The time-lapse of our latest project for Merlin Entertainments has recently been shown on the BBC.
We supplied Blue Peter with clips that featured several times as part of their show on 16th May.
Over the last 9 months one of our HD time-lapse camera systems has been at the Alton Towers Resort, where we have been capturing the construction of the theme park’s record breaking new attraction ‘The Smiler’.
‘The Smiler’, which cost £18,000,000 to complete, is word’s first 14 looping rollercoaster, which propels riders at 85kph along 3840ft of track, down drops of 98ft in 165 breath-taking seconds!
Our camera system has been capturing HD images of the construction of this amazing attraction, and staff at Alton Towers Resort and Merlin Entertainments have been able to view this project through our Interactive Remote Imaging System (IRIS). They have been able to log-on day and night through their desktops and smartphones to view the latest image ( as well as all archive images ) in unrivalled quality.
Although one edited version of the part construction of ‘The Smiler’ has already been broadcast by the BBC, we have put other ‘complete’ edited versions together.
As well as a leading specialist in long-period time-lapse, we have an award winning pedigree as a film-maker too and have also filmed footage on-board The Smiler, as well as capturing further footage around the unique theming. All this footage has been edited together not only to give a remarkable record of construction, but also to give an impression of the amazing theming and the breath-taking experience that awaits those who dare to ride!
We have now successfully completed over 30 projects for Merlin Entertainments, including 10 time-lapse projects. Congratulations to Merlin and to Alton Towers Resort for another brilliant attraction!
Alton Towers have shared the finished edit we produced for them on their YouTube channel, which you can watch below:
