Time-Lapsing the Thames Valley

The Thames Valley is one of the fastest-growing regions of the UK. This major economic hub, also referred to as the UK’s true ‘turbo-economy’, is part of the M4 corridor, and runs from the West of the capital through to Reading, Swindon, Slough, and as far as Oxford. This Southeast region is often known as England’s Silicon Valley due to its large concentration of high-technology companies.

This important part of the M4 corridor is constantly growing, evolving, and developing so our time-lapse camera systems have been and continue to be installed throughout the region.

Distribution & Logistics

Due to the Thames Valley’s location – close to London, with excellent road network links, and Heathrow Airport, it is home to many distribution and logistics companies such as XPO Logistics. We have been privileged to document the construction of numerous Amazon fulfillment centres and sheds in the region including Swindon and Banbury. Time-Lapse Systems work extensively with such world-renowned companies, documenting shed builds through time-lapse photography, often including the capture of warehouse fit-outs. As time-lapse images regularly record each incremental phase of activity it is ideal to track processes and the complexities of works undertaken in such a focused environment.

Our camera systems have also been installed for Global Signage at Heathrow Airport, the UK’s largest airport, which is a major logistics hub that attracts many international companies to locate to the area.

Business & Technology

The Thames Valley is a hot spot for business park development. There are thousands of tech companies within the region so there has been a burgeoning development of technology parks, and we’ve been entrusted to report for numerous projects in the area.

Our longstanding relationship with MEPC has seen us capture the development of business and technology parks such as Thames View and 101 Milton Park, Oxford.

Our time-lapse camera system has reported on the build of Lantern, Maidenhead, a landmark Grade A office space in Maidenhead town centre. We have also captured throughout Oxford, which has become an important business hub, as well as a centre of academic excellence, listed as one of the top 20 European Investment Tech Cities.

Education

The region is home to the University of Oxford, recognised for six years running as the world’s best university.
We, at Time-Lapse Systems, are privileged to have a long-standing relationship with the world’s number one ranked university and have worked on numerous projects with it over many years.

We have been entrusted with capturing the Northgate project at Jesus College for BAM, and the historic new library extension at The Queen’s College designed by Rick Mather Architects. Our latest project sees us reporting on the rejuvenation of the College’s Annexe and the development of the Geoffrey Arthur Building at Pembroke College.

Elsewhere in the city, we’ve covered two separate projects for the co-ed independent school St. Clare’s College. We also capture extensively for the public education sector. In Aylesbury, our camera system has been installed to document the construction of a primary school and nursery at Kingsbrook Academy.

Housing

Due to the burgeoning economy of the Thames Valley, exciting and often, high-end housing developments have been underway. At Wichelstowe we’ve documented the residential development and urban extension of Swindon, including the construction of over 4000 new homes and facilities. In the heart of Reading, we’ve reported on the construction of City Tower, the city’s tallest residential building.

We also provide time-lapse for multiple house building projects in the area, capturing unique design-led properties.
We’ve reported on developments from Oxford, to Hemel Hempstead to the prestigious Aynhoe Park Estate and Paradise Farm.

We have a longstanding relationship with the Berkeley Group and are currently capturing the construction of luxury apartments near the region.

Healthcare and Emergency services

As the Thames Valley region has developed and grown, health and public service infrastructure have also needed to be expanded and upgraded.

We have provided high-quality time-lapse capture of the construction of Theale Tri-Service Community Station. We’ve documented the extensive work that Knights Brown has undertaken to create a station that will be operated jointly by South Central Ambulance Service, the Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service and Thames Valley Police – which covers the counties of Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, and Oxfordshire.

Using time-lapse photography is an effective method to assist with the communication and publicity surrounding such important health and public sector projects.

Energy and Services

The infrastructure of such a densely populated area is also important and we’ve reported on various energy and utilities projects. Power, gas, waste management and water industries in the Thames Valley region are key to keeping such a busy and developing area functioning. Engineers and plant managers can also remotely oversee that these systems are working smoothly and efficiently by using the time-lapse site-monitoring we provide.

Tourism & Heritage

We should also not forget that the region from West of the Thames through to Oxford is also a popular tourist destination of historic and heritage importance. Windsor to the old colleges of Oxford to the modern-day fun at Legoland all attract visitors.

In Buckinghamshire, we are reporting on the heritage project of the reconstruction of the historical Grade Two listed Brunel Engine Shed by High Wycombe train station.

For many years we have worked with Merlin Group and the numerous Legoland sites including Windsor. At Legoland Windsor, we have captured various Lego projects that have replicated landmarks from CNN Tower, Fenway Park and Tokyo’s Skytree.

As the Thames Valley growth continues unabated, we at Time-Lapse Systems look forward to continuing to be at the forefront of key developments, delivering the highest quality capture for a wide variety of clients and projects.
