Chichester College Group commissioned us at Time-Lapse Systems to document two significant education construction projects across West Sussex: the new STEM & Higher Education (HE) Centre at the Chichester campus and a major new technology training facility at Crawley College. Across both sites, our time-lapse cameras captured the progression of complex live construction environments, creating a permanent visual record of projects designed to support the next generation of technical education.
These developments represent a major investment in regional skills infrastructure, providing modern facilities that will train future engineers, construction professionals and digital specialists.

The Challenge
Education construction projects present a unique set of logistical and operational considerations.
Both developments were delivered within live college campuses, requiring construction activity to coexist alongside ongoing teaching, student movement and day-to-day campus operations. This created additional challenges around site access, safety management and stakeholder communication throughout the programme.
At the Chichester campus, the project involved construction of a new STEM and Higher Education Centre, replacing older facilities and creating a modern learning environment focused on science, technology and engineering disciplines.
Meanwhile at Crawley College, the project formed part of the development of the Sussex & Surrey Institute of Technology, a major investment designed to expand specialist training in engineering, construction and digital skills for the region.
For both projects, stakeholders required a clear and consistent visual record of the build programme, providing transparency around construction progress while also creating long-term visual assets for communication and promotion.
Our Approach
We deployed dedicated construction time-lapse cameras at both sites, carefully positioned to capture the full construction programme from groundworks through structural development and final completion.

Our systems captured high-resolution imagery at scheduled intervals throughout the day, producing a reliable visual archive of each project. This imagery was then processed to create both short-form highlight sequences and complete time-lapse films documenting the entire construction journey.
For the project teams, this provided a clear visual timeline that could support stakeholder updates, internal reporting and wider communications around the development of the new facilities.
The Outcome
The completed time-lapse sequences now provide a comprehensive visual record of two major education construction projects delivered across the Chichester College Group estate.
At the Chichester campus, the new STEM & Higher Education Centre now provides a dedicated hub for advanced technical learning, supporting students preparing for careers in science, engineering and technology.
At Crawley College, the Sussex & Surrey Institute of Technology creates a new regional centre for high-level technical training in engineering, construction and digital disciplines.
