Capturing the Evolution of Berkeley Group Projects: Time-Lapse Systems’ Work Across the UK
We at Time-Lapse Systems work extensively with many property developers all over the UK, and we are incredibly privileged to work on a range of interesting and exciting projects, where we get to document the journey of their construction. Our attention to detail and commitment to excellence has helped us to establish ourselves as the UK’s leading provider of time-lapse services for the construction industry for many clients including the Berkeley Group. For decades we have captured a great number of their ambitious and transformative developments in some truly remarkable locations. From residential spaces to mixed-use developments, our work provides a compelling visual narrative of the Berkeley Group’s commitment to quality and innovation. Here, we delve into specific projects where we have captured some of the most significant construction and regeneration projects across the UK for Berkeley.
RiverLight Project
Situated along the south bank of the Thames, the Riverlight development is a striking residential project that combines modern architecture with prime riverside views. We were tasked with documenting the entire construction process of this ambitious scheme, spanning six pavilions. The development integrates residential apartments with amenities such as retail spaces, leisure facilities, and landscaped public areas, reflecting the Berkeley Group’s focus on creating mixed-use urban communities. The project has transformed a previously under-utilised industrial site into a vibrant residential area, contributing to the broader regeneration of the Nine Elms area. Its location provides residents with excellent views of the Thames and easy access to central London through nearby transport links, including the extension of the Northern Line. The development also incorporated sustainable practices, aligning with the Berkeley Group’s commitment to environmentally responsible construction. Features such as energy-efficient systems and landscaped green spaces contribute to Riverlight’s overall design ethos.
The challenges of capturing a dynamic site surrounded by water and an active urban environment underscored the need for a robust and reliable time-lapse system. Our in-house developed cameras are capable of withstanding the unpredictable weather and complex lighting conditions of London, which ensured every phase of development was accurately documented. From foundation work to the final architectural details, our time-lapse footage provides a vivid record of the project’s evolution, reflecting Berkeley Group’s high standards in construction and design.
White City
White City has become a symbol of urban regeneration, with Berkeley Group playing a significant role in transforming the area into a thriving hub of residential, commercial, and cultural spaces. For this project, we have captured the intricate choreography of construction across a sprawling site. The footage highlights the seamless integration of new structures with existing urban elements, showcasing Berkeley Group’s expertise in enhancing communities.
The site, formerly associated with industrial use, has been reimagined to support modern urban living while maintaining accessibility and connectivity. The development includes a range of residential properties designed to appeal to diverse groups, from first-time buyers to families and investors. It is located within close proximity to key transport links, including White City and Wood Lane Underground stations, ensuring easy access to central London and surrounding areas. In addition to residential spaces, the project incorporates landscaped public areas and community facilities, which aim to enhance the quality of life for residents and integrate the development into the wider community. Berkeley Group has worked to align this project with its principles of sustainability and design excellence, incorporating energy-efficient technologies and green infrastructure to support long-term environmental goals.
The project required precise camera placements to cover extensive developments, ensuring a comprehensive view of progress over time. By providing clear and detailed visuals, we supported Berkeley Group’s communication with stakeholders, offering an engaging medium to share milestones and achievements.
Fulham Gasworks Site: King’s Road Park
The re-development of the Fulham Gasworks site was a complex undertaking, blending contemporary residential living with the preservation of industrial heritage. This ambitious regeneration effort is part of Berkeley Group’s wider strategy to repurpose brownfield sites into vibrant, functional urban environments. The residential component of the Fulham Gasworks project includes a range of housing options, designed to meet diverse market demands. Apartments, family homes, and affordable housing units ensure accessibility for a wide demographic. The inclusion of retail and leisure spaces supports the development’s mixed-use designation, creating a self-sustained urban quarter. Additionally, public spaces and landscaped areas have been integrated to enhance community living and provide green spaces within the urban setting.
We documented this intricate project with our in-house developed time-lapse cameras, which operated uninterrupted over several years. This long-term commitment ensured that every aspect of the transformation was captured, from the delicate demolition of existing structures to the construction of modern living spaces. The footage serves as a testament to Berkeley Group’s ability to balance historical preservation with innovative development, while also demonstrating the reliability of our time-lapse systems in long-duration projects.
