News Bespoke media package for Southampton Freight Services

4 August 2015 Kate

Hours of video footage and 10,000 images captured for major logistics company.

A TIGHT timeframe was one of a number of challenges we faced when capturing the fit-out of a major warehouse and office facility in Hampshire.

Southampton Freight Services chose us over any other company to capture the renovation of their new headquarters.

With the remodelling, refurbishment and final move all set to take just nine weeks, we decided a mix of time-lapse with rapid-interval capture and video would be the best way to create a comprehensive narrative.

To fully document the major internal refurbishments of their warehouse, we installed a single camera system. It operated faultlessly for the duration and we were able to control and monitor it remotely, as ever, over our secure mobile network.

This also allowed staff to keep up-to-date with the progress of the fit-out using iRis, our secure online viewing portal.

And when it came to the final days of the move, our Creative Director Ian Thurstan travelled to the new headquarters to shoot the vital short-term works.

Using four different cameras and mounting systems, Ian spent over 24 working hours in less than two days capturing a mixture of video and rapid-interval time-lapse, working tirelessly to ensure nothing was missed for our client.

You can now watch the finished five-minute video below:

Ross Negus, Managing Director at Southampton Freight Services Ltd, gave us some great feedback.

He said:

We wanted to produce a time-lapse video that we could both market and also keep for posterity purposes. Feeling a little underwhelmed after speaking with a few companies, I found Hideaway Media and spoke with Gary.

The sheer level of enthusiasm and expertise that flowed in that initial conversation made the decision to award the contract easy – and what a fabulous decision it was.

From the initial consultation and installation, through the entire build process and during the physical move weekend, they gave us incredible support and advice, always looking for our best interests both from a visual perspective and also keeping the costs realistic.

The final edit almost brought tears to our eyes, knowing how much time and effort had gone in the design, planning and building of the new facility.

Most importantly though, they captured the very essence of what our company does and delivered a stunning video memory for everyone involved.

Since finishing the project, Southampton Freight Services have shared the video on their website, YouTube account, Facebook page and Twitter feed, amongst other social media outlets.

They have now been up and running for over two months and we wish them continuing success in their new premises.

Despite the relatively short length of the fit-out, our team were able to produce a stunning video that is testament to how time-lapse can be used effectively to document any project – no matter the duration.

Hampshire is proving to be a regular destination for our time-lapse camera systems, as we continue to capture a number of works in the area. Look out for future news on the wide variety of projects we are undertaking in the South of England.
