News Capturing on government and military sites
AS one of the first and most trusted time-lapse providers, we have helped capture many government and military projects on sites across the UK.
We have regularly secured specialist clearances & permissions for work on many sensitive sites and projects.
Our solid track record, equipment and protocols mean we are always well equipped to provide extremely secure and reliable services when capturing in locations that require the highest standards.
Large-scale projects on military and former military sites include works at Alconbury Weald, MoD Stafford, Arborfield Garrison, RAF Brampton, MoD Lyneham and Aldershot Garrison, ‘the home of the British Army’. We also capture at other locations which remain confidential.
At RAF Brampton, we began capturing demolition works in 2016, using a dual camera system set-up.
In order to achieve the desired view of the site, these camera systems had to be installed at the top of a communications tower – with no built-in access. A specialist cherry picker was required to reach the final height of 35ft.
For installations such as these the accreditations we hold from leading national bodies are a necessity, and ensure the safest methods and practices are followed.
Working in sensitive environments also presents other challenges. Due to the extensive amount of land military sites tend to occupy, access to mains power is not always possible.
For example, an off-grid (solar and turbine) system set-up was needed to capture a development at Arborfield Garrison in Berkshire, as there was no on-grid power available.
Elsewhere in the South of England, three of our camera systems were installed for a one-year development project at MoD Lyneham, Wiltshire – under strict security measures. The Hercules JV delivered a £121m Ministry of Defence scheme, building the new Defence College for Technical Training.
In the Midlands, another two of our camera systems provided secure capture of major long-term developments at another Ministry of Defence site.
A full narrative of the extensive housing development for returning personnel was ensured by strategically repositioning the camera systems through the build. We also incorporated traditional video elements into the final time-lapse edit.
We continue to provide our services for ongoing government and military sites around the country, ever committed to applying the strictest and most reliable methods, which we also apply across the full range of our work.
