News New City Law School building revealed through our time-lapse
ONE OF our latest education time-lapse videos documents two years of dedicated work on a new London law school across just 90 seconds.
Situated in the heart of the capital, the 7,200 sq m development is a striking, contemporary seven-storey building forming the consolidated site and campus for The City Law school.
At the very start of the project in 2017, our highly trained time-lapse engineers were tasked with the challenge of locating the best possible camera position in this tight city-centre space. The angle of capture had to cover the full range of site works throughout the construction of the new striking, BREEAM-accredited modern structure.
Through our strategically positioned camera system, we were able to capture this impressive £65 million development undertaken by BAM Construction, including the groundworks, the integration of two existing structures, the construction of multiple storeys, and a linking atrium between four buildings to create the distinctive educational build.
Our bespoke camera system was also used effectively throughout as a site monitoring tool for the complex city-centre site, with our custom-built viewing platform providing a live, remote view of construction works as they took place.
The Sebastian Street building was a typically challenging London scheme with the added benefit of sustainable, green credentials – including green roofs and solar panels. Through our micro-managed capture and site monitoring capabilities, specific elements of the complex construction could be remotely managed and monitored by the contractors, project managers, developers, and Wilkinson Eyre architects.
During the four-year period of capture, The City Law School requested three specific videos highlighting key milestones in the project. One time-lapse video was created for the topping-out ceremony and was played throughout the celebratory event in February 2019. Another time-lapse video signified the completion of the build. Whilst another promotional video showcases the finished centre and its internal features.
With each project we undertake needing an individual and bespoke approach, we are always keen to work with our clients to fit any requirements. In this particular case, City, University of London used these video edits for marketing purposes, sharing and interacting on Twitter, Facebook, and other channels, to create interest in the developments taking place.
We are pleased to have been involved in such a landmark project in the capital for City, University of London, and continue to capture the growth and change in the capital.
The consistent, high-quality capture that we have produced for The City Law School is what we are known for, reaffirming Time-Lapse Systems status as one of the leading providers of time-lapse solutions for the UK’s construction industry.
