News Time-lapse reveals first major developments at Milburngate
AS construction now begins, our latest time-lapse video reveals the impressive journey already taken at one of the North East’s most important mixed-use developments.
Since work began in 2017, we have been capturing the regeneration project in Durham, providing full documentation of demolition works from our strategic position across the River Wear.
Having now captured over 70,000 images, Milburngate requested a fully post-produced time-lapse edit to document the initial stages from this first phase of the re-development.
With our Ultra HD (6K quality) capture, our editing team were able to pinpoint and isolate key sections of work, drawing specific attention to these – such as the demolition of the iconic Milburngate House – as part of the editing process.
What an incredible transformation so far! Brilliant @timelapsefilms view of the great progress we’re making on-site at #Milburngate with the help of @thompsonsofp and @Tolentplc. #Durham. pic.twitter.com/PIWV7jcO6K

Bringing together retail & leisure space, offices and luxury apartments, the 450,000 sq ft site is located in the heart of the City’s Northern Quarter. The project is a major contribution to Durham’s status as a growing cultural powerhouse.
The finished video has been widely shared on social media and other channels already, receiving great feedback from both stakeholders and wide publics.
Along with this, Milburngate have also chosen to display live time-lapse images on their website, as a further way of publicising works, taking advantage of the capabilities of our bespoke viewing portal – iRis 4.0 – in the process to deliver this.
We are pleased to be involved in such a landmark project in the North East of England and look forward to continuing capture of the site’s development, as work begins to intensify in the coming quarters. Completion of the first phase is due in 2021.
