News Looking Back at Past Projects: The Demolition of the Iconic Corkscrew Rollercoaster
The demolition of the Corkscrew ride at Alton Towers marked the end of an era for one of the UK’s most iconic amusement parks. As a fixture at Alton Towers for over 28 years, the Corkscrew became synonymous with the park’s early success and was the first double-loop roller coaster in the UK. Capturing its final moments required precision and expertise, and we were honoured to provide our time-lapse services for this significant project.
The time-lapse footage documented the complete removal of the ride, from its initial deconstruction through to the clearing of the site. The project required a careful setup to ensure every detail of the demolition was recorded, providing Alton Towers with a visual narrative that would later serve both historical and promotional purposes. The footage preserves the memory of the Corkscrew while showcasing the transformation of the park’s landscape.
Our long-standing relationship with Alton Towers extends far beyond this project. Over the years, we have been trusted to document a range of events and milestones at the park, from ride construction to live events. This includes capturing the development of rides such as The Smiler, Thirteen, and the much-anticipated Nemesis Reborn. Each project has required a tailored approach to ensure the unique nature of each ride’s construction is effectively captured.
For example, our work on The Smiler, with its record-breaking 14 inversions, involved a multi-camera setup to capture the intricate assembly of the complex track design. Similarly, Nemesis Reborn posed challenges with its unique site constraints and high-profile status as a fan-favourite reimagining. By delivering clear and comprehensive time-lapse footage, we’ve helped Alton Towers showcase the engineering brilliance behind their attractions to their audience.

Our expertise is not limited to ride construction. Alton Towers has also relied on our services to document special events such as concerts, celebrity visits, and other occasions that contribute to the park’s vibrant appeal. These projects demonstrate the versatility of time-lapse as a tool for storytelling, providing a dynamic view of how events unfold in real time.
As the UK’s leading provider of professional time-lapse services for the leisure industry, we understand the unique needs of theme parks and entertainment venues. Whether it’s the meticulous documentation of ride construction, the dramatic deconstruction of a beloved attraction like the Corkscrew, or the high-energy nature of live events, our services are tailored to meet the specific requirements of each project.
Our reputation has been built on delivering reliable, high-quality results that highlight the vision and effort behind major leisure projects. Time-lapse is more than just capturing moments, it’s about providing a compelling visual story that showcases progress, innovation, and transformation. For Alton Towers and other leading attractions, this approach ensures that key milestones are documented in a way that engages audiences long after the event has passed.
The Corkscrew’s demolition may mark the end of a chapter, but it also symbolises the evolution of Alton Towers as a destination. We are proud to have played a role in documenting both its past and its future, contributing to the rich visual history of the UK’s most celebrated theme park.
