In 2013, we partnered with Alton Towers Resort and Merlin Entertainments to document the construction of The Smiler, a groundbreaking roller coaster featuring 14 inversions—the most in the world at that time. Our high-definition camera system was deployed to capture the entire build process, providing stakeholders with real-time access to the project’s progression through our Interactive Remote Imaging System (IRIS).

IRIS enabled Alton Towers Resort and Merlin Entertainments staff to monitor the construction site remotely. Accessible via desktops and smartphones, IRIS provided the latest images and an archive of previous captures, all in exceptional quality. This functionality allowed team members to stay informed about the project’s status at any time, facilitating efficient decision-making and collaboration.
