Country Market time-lapse – Malthouse & Osbourne Farms, Hampshire
We dig deep into the Time-Lapse Systems archive this week to unearth a project for Country Market at Malthouse & Osbourne Farms in Hampshire.
This nine-month construction project captured the redevelopment of Country Market’s farm shop and garden centre. Opening to the public in 2014, the new building, with its sustainable and energy efficient design, was a result eagerly awaited by staff and customers.
An electrical fire in 2010 destroyed the original oak-framed barn and adjoining retail buildings. A temporary structure was put in place so that the farm shop, café, and garden centre could continue to sell the freshly grown produce while plans for Country Market’s redevelopment were put in place.
A full archaeological survey was carried out before such plans could be implemented, which revealed Roman pottery kilns and earthenware that were part of the Malthouse Farm Group nearly 2,000 years ago.
Our camera system captured the exterior new-build which is now home to 16 shops, outlets and restaurants in addition to the original garden centre and plant nursery, farm shop and carvery restaurant.
Friends, customers, and colleagues of the family-owned business were eager to get involved with the relaunch and, as you can see from the final time-lapse edit we put together, the sequence features a daily countdown.
