News Composting Time-Lapse in Kent

17 January 2011 Daniel Curtis

Our latest time-lapse installation is for CFS (Composting Facilities Services) and HotRot at a new recycling facility in Kent. This state-of-the-art site will include the construction and installation of two industrial-scale composting units, which our time-lapse system will document from delivery through to completion. Over the next eight months, the system will capture the full build process, creating a detailed record of the project for both documentation and promotional purposes.

CFS, a leader in waste management across the South East, is overseeing the development of the facility alongside HotRot, known for their innovative composting technology. The composting units being installed are designed to process large volumes of organic waste efficiently and sustainably, playing a key role in the facility’s operations. Our time-lapse system will capture every stage of this installation, ensuring a comprehensive visual record of the work.

The first day of filming is expected to provide striking footage, as we aim to capture the delivery of the composting units. Transporting these large structures will be a logistical challenge, involving their journey across the QE2 bridge. The scale of the operation will require the use of two lanes on the bridge, accompanied by two escort vehicles. This part of the project represents a critical milestone, as the safe arrival of the units marks the starting point for the construction phase.

Our time-lapse system will be installed in a carefully chosen position to provide the best possible view of the worksite. This positioning will allow us to record the full assembly of the composting units, from the initial stages of construction to the final touches. The system is designed to operate continuously and reliably over the eight-month period, capturing consistent high-definition footage regardless of weather conditions or other environmental factors.

The final time-lapse sequence will show the entire process from delivery through to the operational state of the composting units providing a detailed overview of the construction project, highlighting the scale, complexity, and efficiency of the work carried out. The promotional film will also showcase the innovative technology behind the composting units and the overall significance of the facility as a step forward in sustainable waste management.

Throughout the project, our team will monitor the cameras to ensure uninterrupted operation. This includes regular checks on the equipment and adjustments if necessary to maintain optimal coverage. The reliability of our systems are key to delivering a complete and uninterrupted visual record, ensuring that no detail of the project is missed.

The Kent recycling facility represents an important advancement in the region’s approach to waste management, and we are pleased to play a role in documenting its development. By working closely with CFS and HotRot, we will help to tell the story of this project through both time-lapse and traditional film, producing a valuable resource for promotion and reflection. The footage will provide a lasting record of the work involved and showcase the facility’s contribution to sustainable practices in the South East.

This project builds on our experience in delivering time-lapse and filming solutions for industrial and environmental projects. By combining advanced technology with careful planning, we are able to deliver high-quality visuals that meet the needs of our clients and capture the key milestones of complex developments like this one.
