Scotland is not only celebrated because of its stunning scenery but as an exciting epicentre for a range of commercial projects. As the UK’s leading provider of time-lapse solutions we have worked on some of the region’s most iconic development projects. We reflect on some of them here, which gives us an extra excuse to spend more time in this beautiful part of the world.
Glenmorangie has been crafting their world-renowned whiskeys since 1843. The company asked us to provide one of our bespoke specialised off-grid time-lapse cameras to document the expansion of one of their warehouses.
For this project, we used one of our solar-powered cameras, possible because our systems are carefully designed by our development team exactly to the requirements of each individual project.
We were then asked to install a further two cameras within the warehouse. Our skilled and accredited engineers worked tirelessly to ensure that they got the best possible positions for the cameras. Using our own custom bracketry suspended from the ceiling our team had to set-up a mount as the upright ‘H’ beams in the building were due to be encased.
St Andrews- The Open
We also captured the construction of the grandstand at St Andrews for the 2015 Open Championships. Using solar power our bespoke time-lapse system captured in stunning quality 15,000 images over the course of the three-week build. Designed to hold 2,000 spectators and a platform for television cameras, this two-tier grandstand is the first of its kind!
Time-Lapse of Glasgow
We captured the building of student accommodation for GRAHAM construction on Dunblane Street in Glasgow. Our engineers used an elevated position utilising a twenty-five-storey tower block to get the full scale of the project within the shot. As the leading UK provider for time-lapse solutions, we have been capturing projects for the education sector since 2007.
Across the city, in 2018, we captured the transformation of an indoor tennis court into an indoor swimming pool at the inaugural multi-sport European Championships. Our engineers skilfully set-up one of our bespoke cameras directly above where the pool was being constructed to get all of the action within shot. The final edit was then shared by the BBC and on social media.
And at the BBC Scotland’s own Glasgow offices, we captured the installation of their solar photovoltaic rooftop carport by EvoEnergy.
Our bespoke camera systems are developed in-house ensuring that we have full control and can offer a fully customised service for our clients. Our talented engineering team used the neighbouring office building to get the full scale of this project in focus. To do this the camera had to cantilever outwards from the building’s edge as the upper roof was slightly set back. The team used our own custom-designed bracketry and scaffolding to get the best possible results for our client.
We also captured the interior fit out of a retail space on Ingham Street, Glasgow, for Coccion Construction. Our time-lapse cameras are perfectly suited to capture the progress of both exterior and interior works.
Isle of Lewis- Time-lapse
We have also worked in the Outer Hebrides, capturing The Nicholson Institute in Stornoway – the largest school in the Western Isles.
We captured the demolition of sections of the building and the construction of the new school.
MulL of Galloway, Shetland Islands and Fowlsheugh monitoring
We have installed in some very unusual and diverse circumstances, but this was the first time our engineers have ever installed on a cliff. Our bespoke systems are being used by the RSPB to monitor birds in the area. Our network capabilities allow us to always connect to the best available network, perfectly demonstrated in that, despite being on the west coast of Scotland, our systems were picking up a network from Northern Ireland – across the Irish sea! We are incredibly proud to partner with the RSPB, Seabird Watch and Oxford University to support their amazing conservation work in Scotland.
Our specialised off-grid system allows the teams to view images in real-time in unprecedented quality using our specially developed iRis platform. This helped the teams to collect their data efficiently in this beautiful remote location. And shows yet another very diverse use of our systems.
Time-Lapse of Edinburgh
We captured in superior quality the interior fit out at Edinburgh West’s Odeon Luxe Cinema. Our engineers set up cameras in the foyer and at the back of one of the screens to capture the transformation of this space.
We work for Amazon on a range of different sites throughout the UK. Recently, we installed a number of cameras at one of the company’s distribution centres in Edinburgh. Our expert engineers, who are all accredited with IPAF, PASMA, CSCS and SIPPS, found the best possible locations for the cameras whilst ensuring minimal disruption to this busy working environment.
Modular House- Time-Lapse
We have also captured a residential housing estate build for the Berwickshire Housing Association. The modular housing units were built off-site in Scotland and then transported to the town of Duns. Our time-lapse video captured the build of the 62 houses in stunning detail.
Our involvement with these projects throughout Scotland shows how our accredited and experienced team have the skills and capabilities to deliver the highest quality time-lapse. We always look to offer innovative solutions to ensure that we can negotiate any challenge on any project.
