We have been working for South Essex College of Further & Higher Education to document the construction of their new Thurrock Campus in Grays, Essex.
In October 2012 we installed two HD time-lapse and site monitoring camera systems side by side to capture the length and breadth of the construction site.
Pictured below is the view through IRIS (our Interactive Remote Imaging System) from one of the cameras:
The circa £45 million Thurrock Campus will include restaurants, health facilities, shops and an advice centre. There will also be specialist workshop and studio spaces linked to courses for technology, media and creative arts, and facilities for art, design, logistics, engineering and IT courses.
There will also be key areas available for public and community use. Hair and beauty salons, a restaurant and coffee shop will also be open to the public and are destined to breathe new life back into Grays; all contained in two remarkable buildings.
Through our on-line viewer, IRIS, our two camera systems offer a crystal clear view – in unrivaled high definition – of all these incredible facilities as they are being created, and we are set to capture every last detail of the construction through to it’s completion in summer 2014, with the buildings opening to students that same September.
At the end of the project, we will produce a time-lapse sequence, which will incorporate a host of highly specialized post-production techniques, in order to provide an incredible high definition movie of the creation of this new facility.
The new Thurrock Campus of South Essex College will be a landmark for Essex, and we are delighted that we were chosen as the provider of the site monitoring and time-lapse services.
Anthony McGarel, Deputy Chief Executive of the College, said:
The HD camera systems are viewable on our website, www.southessex.ac.uk/newbuilds, and it’s great to be able to give students, staff and local people the opportunity to see the new Thurrock Campus rise up as it happens. The final time-lapse movie will be an effective and impressive visual record showing what a difference our new build will make to local people and the wider community.
