News Friday Feature – Huddersfield Leisure Centre

Our Friday Feature series takes a closer look at some of the videos that you can view on our YouTube and Vimeo channels.

This week’s feature takes us to West Yorkshire for the construction of Huddersfield’s Leisure Centre by major contractor, BAM.

Capturing over the course of nine months, between October 2014 and July 2015, we were responsible for covering some of the important internal developments of the build.

To document the construction of the ‘Splash Park’, our camera system was positioned on a balcony overlooking the adventure swimming pool works.

Not only using time-lapse to capture the construction phase of the centre, we also utilised other means of video to give a sense of the various activities on offer following the opening of its doors to the public.

Focusing on all aspects of the Leisure Centre, such as the reception area, gym, squash courts, and its swimming pools, our in-situ video footage provides an immersive walkthrough of the completed attraction.

And as we were in a leisure centre it was only right that we had some fun while working. Using specialist camera hardware, one of our team produced ‘on-ride’ footage from the main slide. Battling the elements is a familiar part of the job, so getting wet voluntarily made a nice change!

This is just one of many projects we have completed across the whole of Yorkshire. One other example of work we have capture is the £10m redevelopment of the Great Yorkshire Showground, for the Yorkshire Event Centre, between 2015 and 2016.
