News Project for Laing O’Rourke and Imtech Process

25 March 2011 Daniel Curtis

We are pleased to be working with Tamasis, a joint venture between Laing O’Rourke and Imtech Process, on a significant time-lapse and site monitoring project. This two-year initiative will document the major upgrade of the treatment works at Crossness, located on the south bank of the Thames in Abbey Wood. As one of Europe’s largest treatment facilities, Crossness serves over two million Londoners, making this redevelopment a vital part of improving the city’s water and sewage infrastructure.

Originally developed in 1865 by Sir Joseph Bazalgette, the Crossness site is undergoing a major transformation to enhance efficiency and sustainability. A key objective of the upgrade is to modernise the facility while significantly reducing its carbon footprint. One of the most notable aspects of the redevelopment is the construction of a wind turbine, which will generate renewable energy sufficient to power up to 1,000 homes.

Our high-definition time-lapse camera will record the entire project, providing detailed visual documentation of the redevelopment. Positioned at an elevated location, the camera will offer comprehensive monitoring of the vast site, allowing project personnel to observe progress remotely. This capability will support efficient site management and provide a valuable resource for reviewing key construction milestones.

Special thanks go to Ollie Larkin, a time-lapse specialist, for his work in installing the camera. His expertise ensures that the site is well-covered, capturing critical developments over the course of the project.

We look forward to supporting Laing O’Rourke and Imtech Process throughout this two-year period and delivering a complete time-lapse sequence at the project’s conclusion. This visual record will serve as both a historical document and a tool for assessing the success of the upgrade. We are excited to be a part of this important redevelopment and to contribute to the documentation of a project that will benefit millions of Londoners.
