1 March 2023 Holly Eckersley

At Time-Lapse Systems we are lucky to have wonderful team members who are passionate about their specialisms, knowledgeable and experienced. We wanted to celebrate some of our very talented team and draw attention to their key roles within the company. Our Principal Engineer Paul Baddiley has worked at Time-Lapse Systems for nearly seven years and is responsible for the technical logistics of our projects.

The Role of a Principal Engineer

Paul is our most senior engineer at the company, and is responsible for scheduling the installations of our bespoke cameras, organising and arranging the logistics surrounding often very busy projects and managing the accounts with our prestigious clients. Paul always takes a hands-on approach and enjoys installing on-site when the technicians need support.

Who is Paul Baddiley?

Paul has been at the company since 2016, where he started as an engineer. His calm and measured attitude and meticulous organisation skills saw him quickly rise to the role of our Principal Engineer where he leads five team members.

When Paul first joined the company he was responsible for building our systems and installing them on-site. He also helped to produce our risk assessments and method statements which ensures that we are fully prepared and safe to work on every project that we attend. As a valued member of our team, Paul often works closely with our development department to ensure that our systems continually technologically evolve. As the leading provider of time-lapse solutions in the UK we always look for new ways to continually improve and perfect our fully customised bespoke systems.

The Academic and Technical Background of a Principal Engineer

Graduating from Manchester Metropolitan University with a joint honours degree in English and Music, Paul went onto work as a technician at a college in Staffordshire. Here he honed his practical skills working across a range of arts departments before joining Time-Lapse Systems. Like all of our technicians Paul is fully accredited with CSCS, SSSCS, IPAF, PASMA, working at height, drop prevention, first-aid and asbestos awareness training.

Qualified Drone Pilot

Paul is also a qualified drone pilot and is responsible for capturing some of our wonderful drone footage which can be incorporated within our videos. At Time-Lapse Systems we work tirelessly to ensure that we get the best shots to showcase every project in all of their glory. Paul discusses the variety of filming services that we offer at Time Lapse Systems, ‘Now that we provide 360 view and drone filming it means that we can highlight the scale of projects and contextualise them within our time-lapse videos. I am really proud of some of the projects we have captured’.

The Time-Lapse Systems Work Community

As our technician team continues to grow, it is important that every member feels heard and valued. Paul places a strong emphasis on giving everyone a platform to speak. He states: ‘we all collaborate and discuss the crucial planning phase in detail. Everyone has an opportunity to give their thoughts to ensure that we use the best and most efficient installation solutions for our clients’. Although, this cooperative spirit did not shine through at a recent team building go karting trip which got very competitive!

Having a close-knit team is incredibly important as our technicians frequently work at heights and it is imperative that they work together to ensure each job is carried out safely and professionally.

The Variety of Projects: Installing our Ultra HD Time-Lapse and Site Monitoring Camera Systems

Our technicians place a great emphasis on the planning phase of every job we attend. They meticulously research the best possible locations for our systems and the most effective fixing solutions so that our custom-designed camera systems can be safely secured. At Time-Lapse Systems we have worked over a range of sectors including residential, demolition, education, retail, utilities, events, infrastructure, and construction and can capture any project for any duration. Paul states: ‘Working on such a range of projects means that I never have a boring work day, and we have met every fixing challenge possible so we are a very experienced team’.
