Time-lapsing Neptune Health Park for NHSPS

As part of the NHS Property Services (NHSPS) pledge to invest in social prescribing sites across England, Time-Lapse Systems has been privileged to document the total refurbishment of unused outdoor space at Neptune Health Park in Tipton, Birmingham.

The site we captured was regenerated as part of the NHS’s Long Term Plan, which aims to refer at least 900,000 people to social prescribing services by 2023/24.

NHS Property Services has totally transformed the existing space at Neptune Health Park, from design to handover. Our camera system was installed to capture progress and to document the full redevelopment work. We reported as the existing area was levelled and raised planters were incorporated into the site, to create growing areas and a peaceful garden for the local recovery college to use.

Our time-lapse footage from the project has been skilfully edited by our in-house editors into a short video to demonstrate the on-site progress and the social prescribing work that took place. This time-lapse video has been used to showcase the project on the NHS Property Services website and across social media platforms.

The aim of this improved outdoor space is to encourage positive social interaction and the wellbeing of those that attend the nearby Recovery College for the Black Country. Since the site’s completion, from September 2021, Recovery College students have had the opportunity to be involved in a weekly gardening project at Neptune Health Park.

This social prescribing project has encouraged attendees to connect with nature, each other, and the local community. The focus is on the positive effects on mental and physical health through contact with nature- improving mood, self-esteem, anxiety issues, and lowering blood pressure.
