News We provide time-lapse for new TV series ‘Grand Designs: The Street’

OUR long-term time-lapse solutions helped to capture key developments as part of Channel 4’s new self-build documentary.

Working with Boundless (a subsidiary of FremantleMedia UK) for nine months in 2017, we provided fully managed, long-term time-lapse for a first-of-a-kind housing development in Bicester.

Graven Hill, the focus of the Grand Designs producer’s new spin-off, allows self-builders to turn plots of land into their dream homes.

We documented long-term progress of three houses under construction, which began the opening phase of this special project.

A camera move was carried out midway through the build to ensure the key construction stages of these distinctive builds were captured in the best possible way.

The six-part series – Grand Designs: The Street – follows 10 people as they design and build their own homes from the ground up, on the former MOD site in Oxfordshire.

Taking inspiration from a similar project in Almere, Netherlands, it is envisaged that Graven Hill will eventually become a ‘true’ community of its own, with shops, doctors surgeries and other local amenities set amongst the self-build houses.

Every house is unique in its own way, with some focused on sustainability and others on affordability, amongst other focal points.

The one thing they all have in common, however, is that each individual property is built to suit the needs and desires of the homeowners-turned-builders.

Our engineers liaised closely with the producers to ensure that the final time-lapse edit we produced would match their specific requirements.
