News Another of our time-lapses features on national television
A SPECIAL documentary about Alton Towers incorporated our time-lapse as part of a behind-the-scenes look at the construction of the resort’s latest thrill ride, the latest example of our work featuring on national TV.
Wicker Man – the UK’s first wooden roller coaster in over 20 years – opened to the public at Alton Towers earlier this year.
Our time-lapse featured on Inside Alton Towers, a Channel 4 documentary first broadcast yesterday, Thursday 23 August 2018. The hour-long special documented all that went into the roller coaster’s construction, culminating in its public unveiling in March this year.
Time-lapsing Wicker Man
Time-Lapse Systems have been involved since the very inception of the ride, capturing over 50,000 images from the start of works right through to the ride’s launch
The final post-produced video of this already iconic roller coaster was released by the theme park in March, in the run-up to Wicker Man’s highly anticipated launch.
As well as being picked up by various theme park enthusiasts and the national press before its launch, our time-lapse again caught the attention of news outlets again in anticipation of the documentary’s release.
Our time-lapse on TV
This is just one example of the many times our work has been televised nationally, having been featured on programmes for other British broadcasters, including the BBC, ITV, Sky and others previously.
Last night’s documentary is far from the first time our time-lapse of a roller coaster build at Alton Towers has featured on TV, with our footage from The Smiler’s construction airing several times during on Blue Peter back in 2013 another such example.
Away from theme parks, our time-lapse video tracking intensive stages of conservation works at the Mary Rose Museum featured on a special report on the BBC News.
For ITV, our time-lapse videos have been incorporated into multiple broadcasts, including the build of a temporary cinema at Embankment Gardens, a behind-the-scenes look at Riverlight, Nine Elms, and construction work ahead of the 2018 European Championships in Glasgow, amongst others.
And the BBC’s teatime magazine programme The One Show featured our time-lapse from NHS Northumbria’s Specialist Emergency Care Hospital, as part of a special report led by GB Olympian Iwan Thomas.
These are just some examples of our work being featured in national broadcasts, with further time-lapses set to appear in a new Channel 4 housing document due to air in later this year.
